Six shoe and jacket finds, each with the photo to ask for and the size trap to avoid

Three pairs of shoes and three jackets, chosen because their listings tell you something useful before you pay.

Shoes and outerwear are the two categories where a wrong size costs the most. Both are heavy, so the international postage on a pair of trainers or a down jacket often matches the price of the item, and sending it back from abroad is rarely realistic. The six slips below were picked for listings that make the size question answerable: one writes every size in five systems, one stops at a certain size, one hides a no-refund rule inside the size names, and one jacket only has the two largest sizes left.

Every price on this page is the listing price in Chinese yuan on October 22, 2026, before Lolobuy's international shipping. The seller charged CNY 10 to post each of these to the Lolobuy warehouse.

Trainers and high-tops: three ways a size menu can mislead

A good shoe listing gives a length for each size. All three here do, in different ways, and each has its own quirk: repeated numbers, a short ladder, or sizes that cannot be returned.

Why it made the cut: The size menu does the work most listings skip: every option spells out the Japanese foot length in millimetres next to the US and UK numbers. The stacked gum sole is the whole look, and the single side photo shows its height plainly.
QC photos to study: One seller photo means the warehouse set is your first full view. Study the top-down shot for whether both stripes sit at the same angle, and ask for a close photo of the sole joint on each shoe, where stray glue on a gum sole shows first.
Fit note: Order by the JP figure, which climbs evenly from 215 to 310 mm. The CHN figure repeats itself twice (225 sits on two sizes, 265 on two others), so it cannot settle a choice on its own.

Slip 02

Why it made the cut: Patchwork uppers are easy to flatter with styling, and this one is shot plainly from the side on white, so every panel is in view. It is also one of the few listings here that prints a centimetre length on every size.
QC photos to study: Ask for both shoes side by side from the same height: hand-painted or printed panels drift between left and right. The inspection checks style, colour and visible defects, so a smudge on a panel edge counts; how the paint was applied does not.
Fit note: The ladder stops at US 11, and CM 24.5 is written against both US 6 and US 6.5. If you fall on that step, measure your foot and ask the seller which last they mean before paying.

Slip 03

Why it made the cut: Thirty-five description photos is more than any other shoe we looked at, and the seller title says the extra height comes from a raised insole. Seven colourways, leopard print included, share one price, so the khaki in the cover is not a premium pick.
QC photos to study: Count the straps and check the hook side is stitched, not only glued, on every strap. Suede shows rubbing and dye patches in warehouse light, so ask for one photo of the toe from above in daylight colour.
Fit note: The seller wrote the refund rule into the size names: 40, 41 and 42 are made to order and cannot be returned. Below 40 the usual 5-day return window after storage applies; at 40 and up, measure twice before you pay.

Jackets for the cold months, checked at the seams

For jackets the inspection photos matter more than the cover photo. Zips, collar points and pocket corners are where faults show, and the warehouse looks at appearance, colour and size, so ask for those details in the photos.

Why it made the cut: A short-run listing where the remaining sizes are the large ones; for broad shoulders or layering over a hoodie, that is the point. The white colourway costs CNY 20 less than the black.
QC photos to study: Discount stock is where small faults hide, and the seller has already said there are no returns. Ask for the zip pulled fully open and closed, the hood seam, and both cuffs. A photo of the jacket laid flat from the side shows whether the down sits evenly or has bunched in a few channels.
Fit note: With only XL and 2XL on offer, compare the chart chest width with a jacket you already wear, measured flat across. Down jackets are cut for layers, so a 2 to 3 cm larger figure than your fleece is normal.

Slip 05

Why it made the cut: Flat-lay photos of both colours, shot together, make the colour comparison honest. Heavy canvas with a cord collar is a jacket that ages well, and the listing price does not change between sizes.
QC photos to study: Look at the collar first: corduroy wales should run the same direction on both points. Then the chest pocket rivets and the bar-tacks at the pocket corners, which are the stress points on a work jacket.
Fit note: Work jackets run boxy. If you want the classic short body, size by chest width; if you plan to wear a hoodie under it, take one size up and ask for the back length to be measured.

Why it made the cut: Thirteen seller photos show the knit up close, including the stand collar and the zip. At about CNY 200 it is the cheapest jacket on this page, and the navy reads as a dress-down piece for an office.
QC photos to study: The colour menu mixes zip jackets, pullovers, hoodies and even trousers, so the first photo to check is whether the warehouse received a zip jacket at all. Then the zip track and the emblem stitching, which the inspection does look at.
Fit note: One entry in the size menu is a phone number, not a size. Pick from S to XXL only, and expect knit to relax a little after a few wears.

Before you order

Ordering shoes and a jacket in the same parcel

Shoe boxes are the bulkiest thing most people ship. Lolobuy lets you remove packaging when you submit a parcel, and its help pages show how a carton can be cut down when the original box has too much empty space. A smaller box can lower the billed weight on lines that charge by volume.

The estimator we pulled on October 22 showed a 1,000 g parcel to the United States from CNY 185 before the automatic coupon, and the same weight to Germany from CNY 106. A pair of trainers and a jacket together will often pass 2,000 g, so check the shipping page and the line finder on the tools page before deciding whether to send them together.

If a shoe box matters to you, say so in the parcel notes: removed boxes cannot be put back.
